Shoe Care

The highest quality components combined with the most skilled craftsmanship - a successful recipe for producing beautiful handmade shoes and accessories.

Proper care and maintenance of the shoes will help to ensure their longevity in wear. If you follow the guidelines below and treat your shoes in the correct manner, there is no reason why your shoes will not last for many years.

Leather uppers require regular treating with a good-quality wax polish to protect the leather and give a high shine finish. This should help to prolong the life of the uppers and maintain their appearance. The shoes should be dry before application. Try to avoid using unsuitable liquid polish applicators as these can potentially damage the surface of high quality leathers and often create a lacquer which is hard to remove.

Suede and Nubuck uppers can be treated using a ‘Suede Protector’ spray. Using a rubber suede brush can help to lift any dirt and debris, however, stubborn stains may necessitate treatment with a suede shampoo. Suede can often be revived using steam from the kettle and gently cleaning with a rubber suede brush.

For the ultimate care, we highly recommend our Lux shoe care kit made in Paris from our store found here Saphir care kit. This kit includes everything you need for proper care enough for multiple shoes, the essential cream, tools and user instructions.

Using wooden shoe trees will help to absorb moisture and maintain the shape of the shoes as they dry out. Using a shoe horn prevents damage to the heels, counter and top line.

Our luxury high quality premium Shoe trees are included complimentary as part of your purchase for orders $400+, additional shoe trees can also be ordered from here Shoe Tree

Leather soles can expand when wet so it is best to avoid very wet conditions when wearing your new shoes the first two or three outings. In the event that your leather soles do become sodden, ensure that you dry them out slowly and naturally, away from direct heat (e.g radiators). Leather shoes can often take a day to dry out fully just from natural perspiration, whenever possible alternate daily with other shoes.
