We are thrilled to announce a significant achievement for Q by QS. We have partnered with a leading European skin processor to introduce genuine exotic skins in our Made-to-Order program, featuring alligator, python, and ostrich skins.
This milestone allows us to offer authentic leather skins, where each piece is hand-painted to match our painted calf base colors.
Material Consumption & Dynamic Pricing
Exotic leather is undeniably luxurious and comes at a premium. To accommodate this, we've developed a dynamic pricing widget that displays the MTO Price (single order) of the highlighted style on-screen. The widget calculates based on the number of shoe pieces using exotic leather and estimates how much skin will be needed for production.
Alligator Genuine Skin
Alligator mississippiensis skin offers a visually appealing and fashionable option. It is strong, supple, durable, and notably expensive. A distinctive bony layer within the skin provides added protection, while a dimple on each scale enhances its exotic look.
Originating from the Southeast USA, American alligator skin is versatile, combining durability with a softer and more pliable texture compared to crocodile hides. This makes it more manageable for crafting purposes, such as cutting, stitching, and folding.
Ostrich Genuine Skin
Ostrich leather stands out due to its unique softness, flexibility, and strength, making it a luxurious choice. Despite its softness, it remains one of the strongest leathers, with natural oils preventing it from cracking even under extreme conditions.
The most prominent feature of ostrich leather is the quill or feather socket markings, which provide a distinct look. The "full quill" area is particularly prized, making it the most expensive type of ostrich leather.
